What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS BARROW-IN-FURNESS

LOCALITY)(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER (NO.3) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road, in Barrow in Furness, specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 25th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

  1. Ainslie Street - (Ref: TTROW/I8204)

    From its junction with Warwick Street, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Abbey Road. Alternative Route: via Warwick Street, West View Road and Abbey Road.

  2. Stafford Street - (Ref: TTROW/I8207)

    From its junction with Warwick Street, extending in south easterly direction to its junction with Abbey Road. Alternative Route: via Warwick Street, Cheltenham Street and Abbey Road.

  3. Cheltenham Street - (Ref: TTROW/I8213)

    From its junction with Warwick Street, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Abbey Road. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Cheltenham Street, Warwick Street, Stafford Street and Abbey Road.

  4. Park Drive - (Ref: TTROW/I8214)

    From its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Carleton Avenue. Alternative Route for South East Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Abbey Road, Abbey Road Roundabout, Abbey Road, Hollow Lane, Harrel Lane, Flass Lane, Frairs Lane, Bridgegate Avenue and the unrestricted section of Park Drive. Alternative Route for North West Bound Vehicles: via Park Drive, Bridgegate, Friars Lane, Flass Lane, Harrel Lane, Hollow Lane and Abbey Road.

  5. Brighton Street - (Ref: TTROW/I8256)

    From its junction with Warwick Street, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with Abbey Road. Alternative Route: via Warwick Street, Windsor Street and Abbey Road.
