TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION (NO.4) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs and when the temporary closures are in force.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order comes into operation on 30th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 5 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

From its junction with Newton Road, extending in an easterly then south easterly direction for approx. 1.5km.
Alternative Route: via the A590, Horse Close Lane, Church Road, Abbey Road, Park Road and the unrestricted section of Long Lane.
2. Duke Street, Askam in Furness (Ref: TTROW/18931)
From its junction with Ireleth Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 490m.
Alternative Route: via Alexander Place, New Road, Lots Road and Dalton Road.
3. Farm Street, Barrow in Furness (Ref: TTROW/18932)
From its junction with Michaelson Road, extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length.
Alternative Route: via Rotherby Street, Island Road and Michaelson Road.
4. Hawthwaite Lane, Barrow in Furness (Ref: TTROW/18953)
From a point adjacent to a property known as Sandscale Cottages, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.9km.
There is no suitable diversion route available for vehicles.
5. Oak Lea Road, Barrow in Furness (Ref: TTROW/18954)
From its junction with Hawthwaite Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for its entire length.
There is no suitable diversion route available for vehicles.

From its junction with The Strand, extending in a north westerly direction for its entire length.
Alternative Route: via The Strand and Michaelson Road.

From its junction with Newton Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 785m.
Alternative Route: via Newton Road, Long Lane, Abbey Road, Rating Lane, Flass Lane, A5087 and Yarlside Road.

From its junction with Rawlinson Street, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 210m.
