What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(DRURIDGE DRIVE AND PONTELAND ROAD WESTERN FOOTWAY)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The effect of the Order will be to;
(a) prohibit any pedestrian traffic to proceed on Ponteland Road Western Footway from Howat Avenue to Druridge Drive, and
(b) prohibit any vehicle traffic to proceed on Druridge Drive, between Ponteland Road and Alnmouth Court.
3. The alternative routes for traffic will be signed on site
as required.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel on emergency call.
5. In refence to Article 2 (a) of the Order this will come into operation on 8 June 2026 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 10 July 2026 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
6. In reference to Article 2 (b) of the Order, this will come into operation on 29 June 2026 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 7 August 2026 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
