What is happening?

THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(WYMONDHAM, VARIOUS ROADS)

(30 M.P.H AND 40 M.P.H SPEED LIMIT)

CONSOLIDATION AND VARIATION ORDER 2026

Norfolk County Council has made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 5th May 2026. The Order will come into operation on 9th May 2026. The effect of this Order will be to:

1. reduce the speed limit from 50 mph to 30 mph, thereby extending the existing 30 mph speed limit at the B1172 Norwich Road from a point 1280 metres northeast of the north-easterly exit of Tuttles Lane Roundabout for a distance of 76 metres north-eastwards; and

2. reduce the speed limit from 50 mph to 40 mph, thereby extending the existing 40 mph speed limit at the B1172 Norwich Road/Norwich Common/Ketts Oak from a point 758 metres southwest of C18S New Road for a distance of 634 metres south-westwards.

The Norfolk County Council (Wymondham and Hethersett, Norwich Common) (50 M.P.H Speed Limit) Order 2009 (hereinafter referred to as the “2009 Order”); and The Norfolk County Council (Wymondham and Hethersett, Norwich Road/Norwich Common) (40 M.P.H Speed Limit) Order 2009 (hereinafter referred to as the “40 M.P.H.2009 Order”); and The Norfolk County Council (Wymondham and Norwich Road/Norwich Common, Skipping Block Row, Spinks Lane, Tuttles Lane Roundabout) (30 M.P.H Speed Limit) Order 2017 Order (hereinafter referred to as the “2017 Order”) will be revoked in their entirety on the date of commencement of the above Order. All the existing lengths of road having a 30 mph speed limit referred to in the 2017 Order are reproduced in the new Order with the 30 mph restriction remaining, which includes the 76 metres extension. All existing lengths of road having a 40 mph speed limit referred to in the 40 M.P.H. 2009 Order are reproduced in the new Order with the 40 mph restriction remaining, which includes the 634 metre extension. This change is made for the purposes of clarity and the efficient administration of speed restrictions.

A copy of the Order, a plan, and copies of the 2009 Order, 40 M.P.H.2009 Order and the 2017 Order being revoked may be viewed online at https://norfolk.citizenspace.com/  Copies may also be available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich, and at the offices of South Norfolk District Council, Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Norwich NR7 0WF, during normal office hours. However, viewing online would be recommended.
