What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN RICKMANSWORTH) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
- that length of Wensum Way, Rickmansworth from its junction with Ebury Approach north eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 50m.
An alternative route will be via Wensum Way, A412 (Rectory Road/Park Road) and High Street
or via High Street, Station Road, Homestead Road, A412 Rectory Road and Wensum Way.
- that length of High Street, Rickmansworth from its junction with Wensum Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 28m.
An alternative route will be via Wensum Way, A412 (Rectory Road/Park Road) and High Street.
- that length of High Street, Rickmansworth from its junction with Wensum Way north westwards for a distance of approximately 20m.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 25 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BUSHEY MILL LANE, WATFORD) ORDER NO.2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bushey Mill Lane, Watford from its easternmost junction with Northfield Gardens south eastwards to its junction with Sandown Road, a distance of approximately 48m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Bushey Mill Lane, A412 St Albans Road, A41 (North Western Avenue/North Western Avenue Colne Way), A4008 Stephenson Way, Colonial Way, Radlett Road and Bushey Mill Lane.
The Order is needed because water connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 25 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET AND STATION ROAD, RICKMANSWORTH)
ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
- that length of High Street, Rickmansworth from its junction with Church Street north westwards to its junction with Station Road, a distance of approximately 706m.
An alternative route will be via Church Street, A404 Riverside Drive, Wensum Way and High Street.
- that length of High Street, Rickmansworth from its junction with Parsonage Road north eastwards to its junction with Station Road, a distance of approximately 103m.
An alternative route will be via Parsonage Road, Rectory Road, A412 Rectory Road, A404 Riverside Drive, Church Street and High Street.
- that length of Station Road, Rickmansworth from its junction with High Street north westwards to its junction with Northway, a distance of approximately 44m.
An alternative route will be via High Street and Northway.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect from 25 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ABERFORD ROAD, BOREHAMWOOD) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Aberford Road, Borehamwood from a point in line with the south western boundary of No.25 Aberford Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Aberford Road, Barton Way and Aberford Road.
The Order is needed because electrical works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 11 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B5378 Allum Lane, Elstree from its junction with Grade Close north eastwards to its junction with Station Road, a distance of approximately 173m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via B5378 (Allum Lane/Shenley Road/Cowley Hill/Green Street/ Woodhall Lane/London Road/Shenleybury), B556 Harper Lane, A5183 (Watling Street/ Cobden Hill/Watling Street) and B5378 Allum Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 11 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Stag Lane, Chorleywood from its junction with Berry Lane south westwards and north westwards to its junction with Rendlesham Way, a distance of approximately 470m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Berry Lane, Common Gate Road, Chorleywood Bottom, Quickley Lane and Rendlesham Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Road, Watford from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.205 High Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 53m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via High Road, Sheepcot Lane, A405 North Orbital Road, Horseshoe Lane and High Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 11 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE LANE SITUATED ON THE NORTH EAST SIDE OF HIGH STREET, WATFORD) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle lane situated on the north east side of High Street, Watford from a point 11m north west of its junction with A411 Beechen Grove north westwards to its junction with Water Lane, a distance of approximately 34m (“the Cycle Lane”).
Pedal cyclists will need to dismount and use the adjacent footway.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Lane.
The Order will come into effect from 12 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 6 months to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Lane.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON A411 DALTON WAY AND THOMAS SAWYER WAY, WATFORD) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
- that length of A411 Dalton Way, Watford from its junction with A411 Lower High Street south westwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with A411 Waterfields Way, a distance of approximately 556m.
An alternative route will be via A411 Lower High Street, A4125 Eastbury Road, A4178 (Deacons Hill/Wiggenhall Road/Farraline Road/Fearnley Street/The Hornets/Merton Road/Cassio Road), A412 (Rickmansworth Road/St Albans Road) and A411 (Beechen Grove/ Waterfields Way).
- that length of Thomas Sawyer Way, Watford from its junction with A411 Dalton Way westwards to its junction with A4178 Wiggenhall Road, a distance of approximately 425m.
An alternative route will be via A411 (Dalton Way/Waterfields Way/Lower High Street), A4125 Eastbury Road and A4178 (Deacons Hill/Wiggenhall Road) or via A4178 (Wiggenhall Road/Deacons Hill), A4125 Eastbury Road and A411 (Lower High Street/Dalton Way).
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order will come into effect on 12 May 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 6 months to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (OLD’S APPROACH, RICKMANSWORTH) (RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Old’s Approach, Rickmansworth as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Saturday 9 May 2026.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 8 May 2026 to 19 June 2026 during office hours at Main Reception, Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting Three Rivers and looking at Ref: TR00425.
