The A4 GLA Road (Great West Road, London Borough of Hounslow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (No.2) Order 2026

Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Hounslow hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

The purpose of the Order is to enable M4 structural inspection works to take place on the A4 GLA Road – Great West Road in the London Borough of Hounslow. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering or proceeding in a north-easterly direction on the A4 Great West Road between its junctions with Boston Park Road eastern arm and Ealing Road, access will be maintained to the petrol station at No. 995 Great West Road via the roundabout at the junctions of Great West Road and Ealing Road;

(2) entering or proceeding in a westerly direction on the A4 Great West Road between its junctions with Chiswick Roundabout and Boston Park Road, residential and local bus access will be maintained;

(3) entering or proceeding between northern and southern arms of Ealing Road at its junction with Great West Road;

(4) entering or proceeding on Windmill Road between its junctions with Eastbourne Road and Great West Road;

(5) entering or proceeding on the Boston Park Road left turn only lane to the eastbound carriageway of Great West Road, residential egress from westbound only section of Boston Park Road to the Boston Park Road right turn only lanes to the westbound carriageway of Great West Road is permitted;The Order will also:

(6) suspend the one-way restriction on Boston Park Road left turn only lane to the eastbound carriageway of Great West Road between its junctions with the westbound only section of Boston Park Road and the Boston Park Road right turn only lanes to the westbound carriageway of Great West Road   Works will be phased as such that not all restrictions may apply at any one time.

The Order will be effective between the dates of 20th May 2026 and 20th May 2027 every night 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. For eastbound closure via Boston Park Road, Great West Road westbound, Boston Manor Road south-eastbound, High Street – Brentford and Ealing Road to normal route of travel. For westbound closure via Chiswick High Road, Kew Bridge Road, High Street, Half Acre and Boston Manor Road to normal route of travel. For Ealing Road closure at Great West Road westbound via Great West Road westbound, Riverbank Way and Great West Road eastbound to normal route of travel. For Ealing Road closure at Great West Road eastbound via Great West Road eastbound to junction of Clayponds Lane and Great West Road westbound to normal route of travel.
