(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 16 (A-C) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), has made the above Order to facilitate the Colchester Rotary Charity 10k Race.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close (using a rolling roadblock and Marshalls at race crossing points) on the following lengths of road in the City of Colchester:

Road — Description

Circular Road North

Race start from a point approximately 130 metres south west from the junction with Stable Road west to its junction with Circular Road West (Roundabout)

Circular Road West

From its junction with Circular Road North and Circular Road West (Roundabout) in a northerly direction to its junction with B1026/Butt Road.

B1026 Butt Road

From its junction with Circular Road West in a south westerly direction to its junction with B1026/Drury Road, Goojerat Road (Roundabout)

B1026 Drury Road

From its junction with B1026/Butt Road, Goojerat Road (Roundabout) in a westerly direction to its junction with B1026/Layer Road

B1026 Layer Road

From its junction with B1026/Drury Road in a south westerly direction to its junction with Boxted Way.

Berechurch Road – Crossing point

From a point approximately 51 metres north of the central line of the junction of Earlswood Way

Roman Way – Crossing Point

At its junction with Berechurch Hall Road

Hooper Avenue – Crossing Point

At its junction with Berechurch Hall Road

Hooper Avenue / William Harris Way – Crossing Point

At the junction of Hooper Avenue/William Harris Way at a point approximately 116 metres west of its junction with John Mace Road

Berechurch Road / Chariot Drive – Crossing Point

From a point approximately 11.5 metres south of the centre line of the Chariot Drive junction north west for approximately 14.5 metres.

Ypres Road

From its junction with the footpath (beside the western boundary of Foxburrow Grange) in a northerly direction to its junction with Circular Road South.

Circular Road South – Crossing Point

Approximately 20 metres east of the centre line of the junction of Ypres Road in a northerly direction.

The closure is a rolling road closure with Marshalled crossing points scheduled to commence on 10 May 2026 between the hours of 10.00am and 13.00pm or where appropriate signs are showing, and weather permitting and as required to facilitate the Colchester Rotary Charity 10k Race.

The runners will be using footpaths, but the footpaths will not be closed.

Access to properties will be permitted throughout the closure. Access to Emergency Services will be permitted at all times.

The Order will come into effect on 10 May 2026 and may continue in force for 3 days unless extended by the Secretary of State.

(Bergolt Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bergholt Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Enid Way for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th June 2026 – (18:00 - 06:00) for 1 night, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310806141 – Anglian Water Business (National) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National) Limited).

An alternative route is available via B1508, A131, A134, B1508 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(London Road & Tog Lane, Great Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of London Road, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 790m north west, north east, south east then north east of its junction with School Lane for a distance of approximately 170m in a north easterly then north westerly direction.
  2. To temporarily close that length of Tog Lane, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a north easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 1st June 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (KA140RFSI2943726-RC1 & KA140RFSI2943726-RC2 – Gigaclear Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while pot installation and straw extension works are undertaken by Gigaclear Limited.

An alternative route is available via:

  1. London Road, Coach Road, Old House Road, A134 and vice versa.
  2. Tog Lane, A134, Old House Road, Coach Road, London Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Spenser Way, Jaywick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spenser Way, Jaywick in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Tudor Green to its junction with Seymour Road a distance of approximately 350m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd June 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2404804 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Tudor Green, Boleyn Way, Park Square East, Marlowe Road, Millers Barn Road, Frobisher Drive, Seymour Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Spring Road, Brightlingsea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spring Road, Brightlingsea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Queen Street to its junction with Seaview Road a distance of approximately 260m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st June 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2397045 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Regent Road, Cinque Port Road, Seaview Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, City of Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway (No.10) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the Schedule.
  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 14th May 2026 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

From its junction with Essex Yeomanry Way to its junction with the roundabout at Western Approach a distance of approximately 130m

Alternative Route: Western Approach, London Road Tollgate Roundabout, Essex Yeomanry Way and vice versa

(Various Roads, District of Tendring) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.10) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.

From its junction with Colchester Road for a distance of approximately 740m in a south easterly then south westerly direction.

Alternative Route: Heckfords Road, Thorrington Road, B1029, A133 and vice versa.

(Cotman Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cotman Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Prettygate Road to its junction with Van Dyck Road a distance of approximately 200m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2026 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2394428 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway kerbing works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Prettygate Road, The Commons, Van Dyck Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
