(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND CLEARWAY) ORDER 2026

CHESNUT STREET, DARLINGTON

Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:

  1. No stopping at any time (clearway); and the prohibition of the driving of vehicles on

CHESNUT STREET

From its junction with Northgate eastwards to its junction with Valley Street North

An alternative route will be signed via Northgate, High Northgate, John Street, Valley Street North and vice versa

The Order is necessary to allow road surfacing and road lining works.

The maximum duration of the temporary restrictions under this Order is 18 months commencing from 16th June 2026. It is anticipated that it will be effective on 16th June and 17th June between 0700 and 1900hours for surfacing work. The restrictions will be in place at a later date for further surface treatment and road lining works.
