Uttlesford - Multiple Temporary Road - Footpath Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(Footpath 32 Henham) Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that the above Order made by Essex County Council, under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 09 November 2026.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 32, Henham in the District of Uttlesford, approximately 10 metres either side of Elsenham Emergency Hut Network Rail crossing.
The alternative route will be via: Footpath 14 Ugley, Bedwell Road, New Road, Old Mead Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 10 May 2024 and is required for the safety of the public due to insufficient sighting for pedestrians to cross the foot crossing safely and the presence of high speed trains.
(Debden Road, Newport) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Debden Road, Newport in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Chalk Farm Lane for a distance of approximately 10m in a easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th June 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410308703 -Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/ or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water mains repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.
An alternative route is available via: Widdington Road, Spring Hill, Widdington Road, B1383, Debden Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Dark Lane, Henham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dark Lane, Henham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 15m south east of its junction with North Hall Road for a distance of approximately 50m in an easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (KL701BGK-37-55-190526 - Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/ or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while structure examination works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via: Dark Lane, Lodge Road, Old Mead Road, North Hall Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Fullers Lane, Elsenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fullers Lane, Elsenham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 10m east of its junction with Fullers Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311003WGNM849M - Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.
An alternative route is available via: Fullers Lane, Hall Road, Elsenham Road, Waltham Hall Road, Parsonage Road, B1256, A120, B1383, B1051, Church Road, Burton End Road, Belmer Road, Claypit Lane, Tye Green Road, Fullers Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
