Rochford - Multiple Temporary Closures & Speed Restrictions Due To Various Works
What is happening?
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(Footpath 76, Rayleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 76, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Bristol Close in a southerly direction for approximately 36 metres.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 18 May 2026 to 24 June 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the reconstruction of the southern end of the path takes place.
Alternative route: Downhall Park Way and Harberts Way and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 18 May 2026 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Chelmsford Road, Rayleigh) (Temporary Introduction of 40 MPH Speed Restriction) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 40mph speed restriction in that length of road in the District of Rochford as specified in the schedule.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 14th May 2026 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The restriction will be enforced to facilitate each phase of works.
Residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Road: Chelmsford Road
Description: From the junctions with Fairglen Rayleigh Interchange to the junction with Rawreth Lane/Church Road a distance of 2540m.
(Poynters Lane, Great Wakering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Poynters Lane, Great Wakering in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Wakering Road for a distance of approximately 155m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGQKJ48YPTSB - Openreach Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach Ltd.
An alternative route is available via: Wakering Road, Elm Road, A13, Poynters Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Paglesham Road, Paglesham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Paglesham Road, Paglesham in the District of Rochford, from a point approximately 1080m South east of its junction with Church End for a distance of approximately 80m in an easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th May 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02239476098 - GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by GTM.
No alternative route is available.
The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
