Valley View - Temporary Road Closures for Electric Cable Repair Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Valley View, Gillside View and Backstone Road, Bridgehill) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 1/5/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. Valley View: A 132 metre length of Valley View, from the junction with Pleasant View extending northwards to the electric substation; Gillside View: A 142 metre length of Gillside View from the junction with Pleasant View, extending southwards to the junction with Backstone Road and Backstone Road: A 29 metre length of Backstone Road to the front of Numbers 14-18 to enable electric cable repair works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of the closure, any diversion to local traffic will be signposted on site.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 11/5/2026 and are anticipated to be completed in 12 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
