Durham - Temporary Road Closure Due To Sewer Repair Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Albert Street Rear/West Street Rear, Grange Villa) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 1/5/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 22 metre length of Albert Street Rear/West Street Rear, Grange Villa to the rear of No. 58-66 Albert Street and rear of No. 55-63 West Street to enable sewer repair works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of the closure, a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic to the front of West Street.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 11/5/2026 and are anticipated to be completed in 12 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
