MELTON MOWBRAY, BOROUGH OF MELTON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Leicestershire County Council has made an Order under h, the effect of which will be: -

To revoke in part the Leicestershire County Council (Prohibition of Commercial Vehicles Over 7.5 Tonnes} (Various Parishes) (Northern Division) Order 1990

(Amendment No.20) (Counties of Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, Borough of Melton and Parishes of Ab Kettleby, Asfordby, Belvoir, Bottesford, Broughton and Old Dalby, Clawson, Hose and Harby, Croxton Kerrial, Eaton, Grimston, Redmile, Scalford, Stathern, Waltham) Order 2005 – From the Roundabout junction of Scalford Road and the North-East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road (NEMMDR) including the circulatory carriageway.

To impose a 7.5T Weight Restriction on Burton Street, Leicester Street, Sherrard Street, Thorpe End, Rutland Street, Goodriche Street, Church Street and Park Lane, Melton Mowbray for their entire lengths. On Burton Road, Melton Mowbray from its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout to its junction with Burton Street, Melton Mowbray. Saxby Road, Melton Mowbray from its junction with Norman Way to a point 429m east of its junction with Norman Way, Melton Mowbray. Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray from its junction with Thorpe Road to its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout, Melton Mowbray. All roads in Melton Mowbray within a zone bounded by Thorpe End from its junction with Saxby Road to its junction with Sherrard Street, Sherrard Street from its junction with Thorpe End to its junction with Burton Street, Burton Street from its junction with Thorpe End to its junction with Burton Road, Burton Road from its junction with Burton Street to its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout, A606 NEMMDR roundabout junction with Burton Road to its roundabout junction with Saxby Road and Saxby Road from its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout to its junction with Thorpe End. It having been proposed by notice dated 16th October 2025 that the restrictions would apply to the roads named therein, following consideration of objections the restrictions are applied as above to the order now made.

The Order will come into force on the eleventh day of May 2026. A copy of the Order and the relevant map is available for public inspection at County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Leicestershire County Council has made an Order under Sections 5, 81, 82(2), 83(2), 84, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be: -

To impose a 30mph speed limit on part of Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray

To impose a Restricted Road on part of Burton Road, Melton Mowbray

To impose a 40mph speed limit on the roundabout at Junction of

A606 Nottingham Road, A606 NEMMDR, Nottingham Road and St Bartholomew’s Way, Melton Mowbray, on the roundabout at Junction of A606 NEMMDR and Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray, on the roundabout at Junction of Scalford Road and Leighton Road, Melton Mowbray, on the roundabout at Junction of A606 NEMMDR and Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray, on the roundabout at Junction of A606 NEMMDR, A606 Burton Road and Burton Road, Melton Mowbray and on the roundabout at Junction of A606 NEMMDR and A607 Waltham Road, Thorpe Arnold for their entire circulatory carriageways. Also, on parts of St Bartholomew’s Way, A606 Nottingham Road, Nottingham Road, A606 NEMMDR, Scalford Road, Melton Spinney Road, Thorpe Road, A606 Burton Road and Burton Road Melton Mowbray, on parts of A606 NEMMDR and A607 Walton Road, Thorpe Arnold and on part of A606 Melton Road, Burton Lazars’

To impose a 50mph speed limit on the roundabout at Junction of A606 NEMMDR, B676 Saxby Road and Saxby Road, Melton Mowbray for the entire circulatory carriageway and on parts of A606 Nottingham Road, Scalford Road, A606 NEMMDR and Saxby Road Melton Mowbray, Melton Road, Scalford and B676 Saxby Road in Melton Mowbray, Brentingby, Wyfordby, Freeby and Saxby. Please note that the Speed Limits proposed in the TRO Consultation have remained unchanged, but the lengths of roads to which said Speed Limits apply have been lessened in the Order as made.
