What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2200 LOW LORTON TO LOWESWATER AND U2207 HIGH LORTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. U2200 Low Lorton to Loweswater, from its junction with U2199 at Low Lorton, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 5.1km towards Loweswater.

Alternative Route: via the C2030, B5289, and U2199.

Duration: From 1 June 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTRO/C/8233)

2. U2207 High Lorton, from its junction with the B5292, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 460m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2207 and B5292.

Duration: From 10 June 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO/C/8346)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 1 June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
