What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Moor Street Footbridge, Wednesbury) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 has made an order to temporarily prohibit access for pedestrians via the footpath located between Johnson Road & Kilvert Road (including Moor Lane Footbridge). A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Kilvert Road, the footpath between Kilvert Road & Oxford Street, the footpath between Oxford Street & William Green Road, Wlliam Green Road, Price Street, Walton Road, Warner Road, Johnson Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 15/05/2026, effective from 11/05/2026. Purpose – to facilitate the replacement of a bridge deck (Moor Street Footbridge). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Simpson Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Simpson Street, from its junction with Birmingham Street to the extended rear boundaries of No’s 64/66 Birmingham Street. Traffic will be diverted via McKean Road, Century Road, Broadwell Road, A457 Oldbury Ringway, Birmingham Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 15/05/2026, effective from 11/05/2026. Purpose – to facilitate an electricity cable reinforcement scheme by National Grid Electricity Distribution. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Gladstone Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Gladstone Street from its junction with B4149 Church Lane for a distance of 55 metres in a south-easterly direction. Traffic will be diverted via Greswold Street, Small Street, B4149 Church Lane & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence & be completed by 11/05/20 (9:30am - 3:30pm only). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bright Road, Greenwood Avenue and Mushroom Hall Road, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Bright Road, which will be closed between the junctions of Giles Road & Mushroom Hall Road. The order intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Greenwood Avenue, which will be closed between the junctions of Giles Road & Vicarage Road. The order intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Mushroom Hall Road, which will be closed between the junctions of Giles Road & Greenwood Avenue. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route for all road closures will be signed via Vicarage Street, Vicarage Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 14/06/2026, effective from 11/05/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for water main renewal and service connection works by South Staffs Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (New Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along New Street, which will be closed from east of its junction with High Street for approximately 50 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Carters Green, Albion Roundabout, The Expressway, All Saints Interchange, Cronehillls Linkway & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 14/05/2026, effective from 13/05/2026 (6pm - 6am).
