(Temporary 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order: To introduce: a ‘Temporary 30mph Speed Limit’ Restriction on the following length of road in the Parishes of Margaretting, and Writtle, in the City of Chelmsford (currently National Speed Limit):

Road - Description
A414 Three Mile Hill/A414 London Road. Northbound carriageway From the roundabout at the A12 junction northbound to the 40mph speed limit just before the Widford Roundabout.

The Temporary 30mph Speed Limit is scheduled to take place from 07:00 on the 15 May 2026 to 19:00 on the 17 May 2026, or where appropriate signs are showing, and weather permitting and is required for the safety of visitors and other road users whilst the AA National Flower Show Event at Hylands Park Estate takes place.

Speed Enforcement cameras may be operating within the restricted lengths of road as specified.

Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The Order will come into effect on 15 May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months unless extended by the Secretary of State.

(A1060 Bishop Stortford Road, Roxwell) (Special Event)
(Essex Young Farmers Show) (Temporary 30 & 40 Speed Limit) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Orders under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph and 40mph Speed Limit on the A1060 Bishop Stortford Road, Roxwell, in the City of Chelmsford, as specified below. (The road is currently national speed limit)

Road - Description MPH

A1060 Bishop Stortford Road From a point approximately 115 metres east of the junction with Vicarage Road for approximately 250 metres west. 40

A1060 Bishop Stortford Road From a point approximately 115 metres west of the junction with Vicarage Road for approximately 845 metres west. 30

The temporary speed restrictions are scheduled to be in place on 17 May 2026 for 1 day, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 or where appropriate signs are showing, and weather permitting and is required for the safety of the public while the Essex Young Farmers Show takes place. Traffic signals will also be on site to help with egress and ingress of the site.

The Order will come into effect on 17 May 2026 may continue in force for 18 months unless extended by the Secretary of State.

(Broomhall Road, Broomfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Broomhall Road, Broomfield in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 20m east of its junction with Jubilee Avenue for a distance of approximately 75m in an easterly direction.

2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

The Essex County Council (Chelmsford City) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 1st June 2026 for 435 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02257599931 – Rose Builders Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow access while development works are undertaken by Rose Builders Limited.

An alternative route is available via Broomhall Road, Main Road, Jubilee Avenue and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Road, Boreham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Boreham in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Main Road for a distance of approximately 195m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03766160062/102 – Anglian Water Business (National) Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while CCTV Survey and high pressure water jetting works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National) Limited).

An alternative route is available via Church Road, Plantation Road, Main Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th May 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Maldon Road, Great Baddow) (Temporary Introduction of 30 MPH Speed Restriction) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction on that length of Maldon Road, Great Baddow in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Sandford Mill Lane a distance of approximately 85m in both directions. The speed restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2026 for 19 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40022998892 – MACL Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The speed restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while trench works are undertaken by MACL Ltd.

The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(South Street, Great Waltham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of South Street, Great Waltham in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 50m south west of its junction with Cherry Garden Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2026 for 8 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30005049031 – UK Power Networks).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via South Street, Breeds Road, Margaret Woods Road, Larks Lane, Chelmsford Road, The Village, South Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th April 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, City of Chelmsford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.5) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that lengths of roads in the City of Chelmsford as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (City of Chelmsford) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. 2. The works are scheduled to commence after 30th April 2026, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One. Network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services.

Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas upgrade works are undertaken by Cadent.
