What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY AREA)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.43) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 18th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

  1. U52II Oxen Park – 18th May 2026 Approx. duration 4 days (Ref:TTROW/8384)

    From its junction with the C5022, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 630m.

    Alternative Route: via the C5022 and the U52I2.

  2. U5526 White Moss, near Grasmere – 19th May 2026 - Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I8400)

    From a point adjacent to a property known as Howe Top, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 495m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

  3. Lickbarrow Road, Windermere – 19th May 2026 - Approx. duration 4 days (Ref:TTROW/I8413)

    From its junction with Park Road, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 135m.

    Alternative Route: via Park Road, Thornbarrow Road and the unrestricted section of Lickbarrow Road.

  4. U5046 Broughton Mills – 25th May 2026 - Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I8404)

    From its junction with the C5008, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 260m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

  5. Sunny Bank near Torver – 29th May 2026 - Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I8385)

    From its junction with the A5084, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 215m.

    There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

  6. U5532 near Ambleside – 1st June 2026 duration 4 days (Ref:TTROW/I8415)

    From a point adjacent to a property known as Fox Howe Farm, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 375m.

    Alternative Route: via the A591, A591 Compston Road, A593 Rothay Road and the unrestricted section of the U5532.

  7. C5010 Near Grizebeck – 7th May 2026 - Approx. duration 3 days (Ref:TTROW/I8494)

    From its junction with the A593, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.2km.

    Alternative Route: via the C5012 and the A593.
