WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING (SULHAM HILL, TILEHURST) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Sulham Hill in Tilehurst between its junction with Long Lane and its junction with The Ridings.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Sulham Hill, Mill Lane, A340 Road Known as Theale Road, A340 The Street, A340 Tidmarsh Road, A340 Church Road, A329 High Street, A329 The Square, A329 Reading Road, A329 Purley Rise, Long Lane, Dark Lane, Overdown Road, Lower Elmstone Drive, Chapel Hill, Sulham Hill and vice versa.
The purpose of this order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out chamber and cover repairs.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 12th May 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 12th and 14th May 2026.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
