What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Damas Lawn Bridge Lane, Lower Holditch

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along DAMAS LAWN BRIDGE LANE, LOWER HOLDITCH between the county boundary and a point approximately 65 metres north.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 25 May 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 07 June 2026.

This Order will enable South West Water, safe access to upgrade existing water mains.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using; Waggs Plot - A358 - Broom Lane.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath W1/1, Bridport

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath W1/1, BRIDPORT from grid reference SY 46334 93009 to grid reference SY 46310 93264, a distance of approximately 350 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It will come into operation on 25 May 2026 and will remain in force for 26 weeks however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 03 July 2026. It can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This closure is required to allow National Grid to carry out trenching and cable installation.

The alternative route will be: From grid reference SY 46334 93009 head west along West Street to SY 46242 93038, a distance of 120 metres. From SY 46242 93038 head northeast and then north along St. Swithins Road to SY 46310 93264, a distance of 240 metres.
