CITY OF BRISTOL

ANGERS ROAD AND BATHWELL ROAD, WINDMILL HILL WARD ONE WAY AND CONTRAFLOW CYCLING AND WAITING – TRAFFIC ORDERS

The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE that on 30th April 2026 it made the following traffic orders:-

A. City Council of Bristol (Angers Road and Bathwell Road, Windmill Hill, City of Bristol) (One Way Traffic and Contraflow Cycling) Order 2026, the effect of which is:-

(i) to extend the eastbound one way traffic working in Angers Road from Wells Road further eastwards to Access To Properties On New Walls;

(ii) to revise the on-site contraflow cycle lane facility in Angers Road to permit contraflow cycling for pedal cycles against the one way traffic along the extended length of one way traffic (from Wells Road to Access To Properties On New Walls)–this addresses the anomaly between the provisions of the 1998 one way traffic order at this location (which provides for contraflow cycling) versus the on-site traffic signs which operate the pedal cycle facility as a designated contraflow cycle lane in practice;

(iii) to introduce eastbound one way traffic working in entire length of Bathwell Road; and

(iv) to permit contraflow cycling for pedal cycles against the one way traffic.

B. City Council of Bristol (Angers Road, Windmill Hill Ward, City of Bristol) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2026, the effect of which is to extend the prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Angers Road from Wells Road further eastwards to Access To Properties On New Walls.

The orders will come into operation on 9th June 2026 and copies thereof, together with plans, copies of the orders to be varied further and revoked and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the orders may be inspected (in digital format) at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the traffic orders on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with may within six weeks after the date on which the traffic orders were made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
