What is happening?

SOMERSET COUNCIL

Parish Of Crewkerne - Temporary Closure Of Market Street, Hermitage Street, West Street, Barn Street, Gouldsbrook Terrace, Lyewater And Chard Road
Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, have made an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along:
Market Street - from the junction with South Street to the junction with Hermitage Street;
Hermitage Street - from the junction with Market Street, southwards for a distance of 25 metres;
West Street - from the junction with Hermitage Street to the junction with Barn Street;
Barn Street - from the junction with West Street, southwards for a distance of 10 metres;
Gouldsbrook Terrace - from the junction with West Street, north-eastwards for a distance of 37 metres;
Lyewater - from the junction with West Street, south-westwards for a distance of 33 metres and Chard Road - from the junction with Lyewater, westwards for a distance of 77 metres. A total distance of 415 metres. This Order will enable Heidelberg to carry out prep and resurfacing works on behalf of Somerset Highways.

The Order becomes effective on 6th May 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 11th May 2026 and last until 20th May 2026 between the hours of 18:30 - 23:30 for a total of 10 evenings.
