What is happening?
LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14(1) (JOAN STREET, HATFIELDS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTION)
1. The Council of the London Borough of Southwark hereby gives notice that to enable development works by Keltbray and their associated contractors, it has made an order, the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from entering part of Joan Street SE1, and to temporarily introduce parking restrictions on Hatfields SE1.
2. Whilst the works are in progress, or whilst the authorised traffic signs or road markings are displayed, (a) no person shall cause any vehicle to enter, proceed, stop, wait, load or unload at any time on Joan Street, between The Cut and Isabella Street (b) Double yellow lines with double blips to restrict all parking, waiting and loading will be in place on the eastern side of Hatfields, between The Cut and Isabella Street.
3. The alternative route for access only will be shown by the signed diversion, expected to be via Hatfields, and Joan Street up the railway bridge at the junction with Isabella Street.
4. Exemptions will be provided in the Order to permit reasonable access to premises, so far as it is practical without interference with the execution of the said works.
5. The restrictions will not apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.
6. The road closure will be in place from the 11th of May 2026 with an expected end date of 26th October 2026. This order remains valid for 18 months from the 11th of May 2026.
