What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – KINGS ARCHES, KINGS ROAD, BRIGHTON

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 6th May 2026 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:-

    a) The temporary Cycle Lane closure on Kings Road, from opposite the junction with Oriental Place to opposite the junction with Little Preston Street.

    b) The temporary suspension of the Pay and Display parking bays, on the Southern side of carriageway, opposite property number 141 Kings Road to property number 136 Kings Road.

  2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors to carry out the demolition and reconstruction of Kings Road Arches No’s 17-35. Bridge Structure BS.5605.
  3. Pedestrians and cycle access will be maintained, via a signed and barriered route.
  4. This Order comes into force on 6 May 2026 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 12 May 2027.
