What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A595 NEAR RAVENGLASS) (TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along that section of the A595, near Ravenglass from a point approx. 160 metres southeast of its junction with the road leading to Eskdale Golf Club, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 150m.

No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 11 May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for a day between 0930 and 1530 hours, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
