What is happening?

Somerset Council Parishes of Bridgwater and Bridgwater Without Temporary Closure of Ascot Drive, Bristol Road and Bristol Road Roundabout By Ascot Drive

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, have made an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Ascot Drive - from the junction with Ascot And Kings Drive Roundabout to the junction with Bristol Road Roundabout By Ascot Drive; Bristol Road (North bound) - from 204 metres north-east of the junction with Gerber Roundabout, northwards incorporating the entire length of Bristol Road Roundabout By Ascot Drive for a distance of 629 metres and Bristol Road (South bound) - from 1105 metres south of the junction with Station Road, southwards incorporating the entire length of Bristol Road Roundabout By Ascot Drive for a distance of 608 metres. A total distance of 1,744 metres.

This Order will enable Octavius and Heidelberg to carry out phased resurfacing works (as and when signed on site) on behalf of Somerset Highways. The Order becomes effective on 5th May 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 11th May 2026 and last until 26th June 2026 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 47 days.
