THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(WATERGATE PARK BRIDGE NO 5 (HS 1244) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that following a 21 day S.14(2) Notice issued on the 17th April 2026, the Borough Council of Gateshead has, on the 6 May 2026, made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists and motor vehicles along Watergate Park Bridge No 5 (HS 1244) which is located on Bridleway GA/10/2 at a point 1000 metres south east of the junction with the B6317 Whickham Highway. The temporary prohibition is required to facilitate repairs works to the timber deck of the bridge. The Order will come into force on 7 May 2026 and will be in place for a maximum duration of 6 months. 

All pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists and motor vehicles (except for personnel and machinery involved in the works) will be prohibited from using the above section of bridleway until completion of the works, as indicated at such times and to such extent by the display of traffic signs. 

During the prohibition, there will be a signed diversionary route in place creating a temporary bridleway along an existing permissive path commencing at a point 750 metres east of the junction with the B6317 Whickham Highway heading in a northerly, easterly then southerly direction for a total distance of 637 metres.
