TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BELVOIR STREET – from its junction with Stafford Street for 20m southwards to facilitate carriageway repair works from 11th to 14th May 2026 (may continue until 25th June 2026). Alternative route is via: Stafford Street, Gladstone Street, Earlham Road, Belvoir Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

MILE CROSS LANE – at its junction with Ashbourne Industrial Estate to facilitate tree removal works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road will be temporarily restricted from turning right from Ashbourne Industrial Estate onto Mile Cross Lane between 09:00 and 15:30 from 13th to 15th May 2026 (may continue until 26th June 2026). Alternative route is via: Mile Cross Lane, Chartwell Road, Chartwell Road/Constitution Hill Roundabout, Chartwell Road and Mile Cross Lane (Hellesdon, Sprowston, Old Catton, Norwich). The works promoter is Highway Safe on behalf of Wild Tree Care.

SANDY LANE – A) from its junction with Hall Road to its junction with Whiting Road (southeast-bound carriageway only) and

B) from its junction with Whiting Road to its junction with Hall Road to facilitate gas main replacement works. Road A will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and Road B shall be temporarily subject to the imposition of a one-way system (northwest-bound) and the effect of this is that vehicles will only be allowed to travel in a northwest direction from 11th May to 15th June 2026 (may continue until 15th December 2026). Alternative route is via: Hall Road, Bessemer Road. The works promoter is Cadent.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in respect of the following road:

SILVER ROAD BACK LANE SOUTH SIDE OF 21 TO MORLEY STREET – footpath from its junction with Silver Road for 30m north-eastwards to facilitate the installation of a new substation connection from 5th to 26th May 2026 (may continue until 25th November 2026). Alternative route is via: Silver Road, Mousehold Street, Morley Street. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/ footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/ restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
