TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that on 29th April 2026 Sunderland City Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part IV of the Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The Order will come into operation on 22nd May 2026 with the effect of introducing no waiting at any time restrictions along the lengths of road listed in the Schedule. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made. Please quote reference: JA/82660 in all correspondence. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court. SCHEDULE Harthope Close, Rickleton, Washington, Sunderland (i) both sides from a point 0.8 metres south of the extended southern highway boundary of Vigo Lane, to its northern extent. Vigo Lane, Washington, Sunderland (i) the north side from a point 22.8 metres east of the extended party property boundary of 43 & 50 Harthorpe Close, for a distance of 131.7 metres in an easterly direction. (ii) the south-west side from a point 22.8 metres east of the extended party property boundary of 43 & 50 Harthorpe Close, for distance 25.0 metres in an easterly direction. Wellhope, Rickleton, Washington, Sunderland (i) the east side from a point 11.5 metres north of the highway intersection of Vigo Lane & Wellhope, to its southern extent. (ii)the west side from a point 15.0 metres north of the highway intersection of Vigo Lane & Wellhope, to its southern extent.
