New Road East - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (New Road East) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.87) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 5th May 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
NEW ROAD EAST
From its junction with New Road to Byron Road.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
NEW ROAD (NORTHSIDE)
From its junction with Carnarvon Road to New Road East.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate junction redesign works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 5th May 2026 to 26th June 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Copnor Road, New Road and Carnarvon Road, Queens Road, Byron Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
