(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which is to prohibit temporarily all traffic from proceeding over the Public Footpath indicated below:-
Public Footpath FP1207070 Hapton, Burnley, from its junction with Manchester Road at Point A (SD 7923 3174) in a generally easterly direction for approximately 250 metres to Point B (SD 7947 3177).
The closure is necessary whilst works are carried out on or near the footpath.
Access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the footpath, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from, the footpath, will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in this order shall apply to emergency service vehicles, public rights of way officers of the County Council on foot or to those undertaking the works.
The Order will be operative from the 24th April, 2026, for a period of 6 months or until the works are completed within this period.

Please note that the footpath will be temporarily closed while Hapton Footbridge is removed for painting works. The footbridge will be reinstated on several occasions during the overall closure period to allow public access.
The proposed closure dates are as follows:
25 April 2026 to 26 April 2026
23 May 2026 to 24 May 2026
30 May 2026 to 31 May 2026
Please be advised that these dates are provisional and may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. During periods when the footbridge is removed, no safe access will be available along the footpath. At all other times, access should be available for public use.
