Public Notice -
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - The A13 GLA Road (Alfreds Way, Ripple Road and Thames Gateway, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
1. Transport for London having consulted the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable resurfacing works to take place at A13 Alfreds Way, A13 Ripple Road and A13 Thames Gateway.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from entering, exiting or proceeding on:
(1) the westbound carriageway of the A13 Thames Gateway / Ripple Road / Alfred’s Way between its junction with unnamed off-slip road connecting the westbound carriageway of the A13 Thames Gateway with the traffic system at the junctions of coats Manor Way and A1306 Ripple Road hereafter referred to as Goresbrook Interchange and its junction with the unnamed off-slip road connecting the circulatory traffic system at the junctions of the A123 Ripple Road and Lodge Avenue hereafter referred to as Lodge Avenue Junction with to the westbound carriageway Alfred’s Way;
(2) Ripple Road between its junctions with the westbound carriageway of A13 Ripple Road / Alfreds Way and Lodge Avenue Junction;
(3) the unnamed on-slip road connecting A1306 Ripple Road to the westbound carriageway of A13 Ripple Road at Goresbrook Junction;
(4) Renwick Road between its junctions with Steel Approach and A13 Ripple Road;
(5) the service road fronting units 1–6 Rippleside Commercial Estate between its junctions with Ripple Road and Renwick Road;
(6) the eastbound carriageway of the A13 Alfreds Way between its junction with the unnamed off-slip road connecting Alfreds Way to Movers Lane and its junction with Gale Street;
(7) the unnamed on-slip road connecting Lodge Avenue Junction to the eastbound carriageway of Alfreds Way;
(8) Gale Street between the access road to Barking RUFC, Club House, Gale Street and its junction with Ripple Road.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 15th May 2026 and 15th February 2027 each night Monday to Saturday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (ceasing at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning) or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via:
(for eastbound traffic) unnamed off-slip road, Lodge Avenue Junction, Porters Avenue, Wood Lane, Heathway and Ripple Road to normal route of travel;
(for westbound traffic) A1306 Ripple Road, Heathway, Hedgemans Road, Woodward Road, Lodge Avenue, Lodge Avenue Junction and A13 on-slip road to normal route of travel; Choats Manor Way, Choats Road, Renwick Road and River Road road to normal route of travel;
(for westbound HGV’s) A1306 Ripple Road, Heathway, Wood Lane, Longbridge Road, Lodge Avenue, Lodge Avenue Junction and A13 on-slip road to normal route of travel.
