What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.8) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 27th April 2026 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 20th April 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Styles Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 20th April 2026 to 21st April 2026, 8am to 6pm and 5th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Keepers Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 20th April 2026 to 21st April 2026, 8am to 6pm and 12th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Lamers Road the whole length. Diversion route via Mangrove Road, Littlefield Road. Alternatively, via Littlefield Road, Hallwicks Road, Mangrove Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 21st April 2026 to 22nd April 2026, 8am to 6pm and 13th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Mangrove Road the whole length. Diversion route via Hallwicks Road, Garrets Mead, The Severalls, Hallwicks Road, Littlefield Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 22nd April 2026 to 24th April 2026, 8am to 6pm and 14th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Ashfield Way the whole length. Diversion route via Homerton Road, Wistow Road, Swasedale Road. Alternatively, via Swasedale Road, Icknield Way, Homerton Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 28th April 2026, and 19th May 2026, 8am to 6pm for both dates.
Hockwell Ring the whole length. Diversion route via Hurlock Way, Hockwell Ring. Alternatively, via Butely Road, Needham Road, Hasketon Drive, Toddington Road, Montague Avenue, Acworth Crescent, Hockwell Ring. Anticipated dates and times of closures 30th April 2026 to 6th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 21st May 2026 to 22nd May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Pond Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 30th April 2026 to 6th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 21st May 2026 to 22nd May 2026, 8am to 6pm.

Regis Road the whole length. Diversion route via Wheatfield Road, Tomlinson Avenue, Brunel Road. Alternatively, via Brunel Road, Poynters Road, Woodside Link, Wheatfield Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 7th May 2026 to 12th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 28th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Hillcroft Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 29th April 2026 to 1st May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 20th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Shepherd Road the whole length. Diversion route via Landrace Road, Haymarket Road. Alternatively, via Haymarket Road, Brunel Road, Tomlinson Avenue, Landrace Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 6th May 2026 to 8th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 27th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Chesford Road the whole length. Diversion route via Sowerby Avenue, Stapleford Road, Chesford Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 23rd April 2026 to 29th April 2026, 8am to 6pm and 15th May 2026 to 18th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Cedar Close the whole length. No diversion available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 6th May 2026 to 11th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 27th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Castle Croft Road the whole length. Diversion route via Whipperley Ring, Priestleys, Long Croft Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 11th May 2026 to 13th May 2026, 8am to 6pm and 29th May 2026, 8am to 6pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out carriageway surface treatment works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
