Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 28th April 2026 it made an order under section 14(1) of the road traffic regulation act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from the sections of footpaths described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for maintenance works to the gas main. The order comes into force on 5th May 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it is anticipated that the works will take 22 days. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the sections of footpaths described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided via the adjacent highway network. Schedule James Armitage Street from a point 4 metres south-west of the extended party property boundary of 93 & 95 James Armitage Street, for a distance of 11 metres in a north-easterly direction.
