LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BLYTHE LANE, LATHOM, FLAX LANE, BURSCOUGH, HOBCROSS LANE, LATHOM, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following length of highway:
a. Blythe Lane, Lathom from its junction with Flax Lane for 115 metres in a southerly direction.
b. Flax Lane, Burscough, from its junction with Hobcross Lane, Lathom for 65 metres in a northerly direction.
c. Hobcross Lane, Lathom from its junction with Blythe Lane for 48 metres in a northerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0830 to 1900 on Wednesday 6th May 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained always.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Clockwise: from junction Blythe Lane and Hobcross Lane, B5240 Hall Lane, B5240 Plough Lane, A577 Wigan Road, A577 Crosshall Brow, A577 Wigan Road, A570 Moor Street, A570 St Helens Road, A570 Park Road, A570 Church Street, A570 Southport Road, A59 County Road, A59 High Lane, A59 Liverpool Road South, A5209 Square Lane, A5209 Briars Lane, Flax Lane
Anti clockwise: from junction Blythe Lane, Dark Lane, Greetby Hill, Derby Street, A570 Stanley Street, A570 Moor Street, A570 St Helens Road, A570 Park Road, A570 Church Street, A570 Southport Rd, A59 County Road, A59 High Road, A59 Liverpool Road South, A5209 Square Lane, A5209 Briars Lane, Flax Lane
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow replacement works of overhead electrical cables to be carried out.
