Norwich - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions for utility works, repairs, and infrastructure installation

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026
(NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in respect of the following road:
SILVER ROAD BACK LANE SOUTH SIDE OF 21 TO MORLEY STREET – footpath from its junction with Silver Road for 30m north-eastwards to facilitate the installation of a new substation connection from 5th to 26th May 2026 (may continue until 25th November 2026). Alternative route is via: Silver Road, Mousehold Street, Morley Street. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
CARROW HILL – from its junction with King Street to its junction with Bracondale to facilitate sinkhole investigation and repairs due to the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road or both the Road will be temporarily closed from 18th to 24th April 2026 (previously 9th March to 18th April 2026) (may continue until 5th June 2026). Alternative route is via: King Street, Bracondale. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
CHANTRY ROAD – from 100m east of its junction with Chapel Field East for 30m eastwards to facilitate cladding works from 27th April to 8th June 2026 (may continue until 8th December 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is RMR Facades Ltd.
LINCOLN STREET – from its junction with Unthank Road for 40m north-westwards to facilitate electrical connection works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload on both sides of the carriageway from 27th April to 1st May 2026 (may continue until 12th June 2026). Alternative route is via: Lincoln Street, Portersfield Road, Portland Street, Unthank Road and vice versa. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.
THEATRE STREET, RAMPANT HORSE STREET, ST STEPHENS STREET –
A) Theatre Street from its junction with Chapel Field East to its junction with William Booth Street,
B) Theatre Street from 67m west of its junction with William Booth Street to its junction with Rampant Horse Street,
C) Rampant Horse Street from its junction with Theatre Street to its junction with St Stephens Street,
D) St Stephens Street from its junction with Rampant Horse Street to its junction with Chapel Field Road/Queens Road Roundabout
to facilitate the lifting and installation of a transformer on the roof of the forum, Road A will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) and Roads B, C and D will be temporarily subject to the suspension of the bus lane between 19:00 and 03:00 from 27th to 28th April 2026 (may continue until 9th June 2026). Alternative route for Road A is via: Chapel Field East, Chapel Field North, Chapel Field Road, St Stephens Street, Rampant Horse Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/ footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT). Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
