South Lakeland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.44) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 11th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for those dates as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

  1. Pease Close Lane, Ayside – From 11th May 2026 for Approx. duration 5 days (Ref: TTROW/18274)

    From a point approx. 55 metres south west of its junction with the U5190, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 65 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Pease Close Lane, U5190, C5109, U5185 and Four Lane Ends (U5189).

  2. Millness Lane, Preston Patrick – From 11th May 2026 for Approx. duration 5 days (Ref: TTROW/18360)

    From a point approx. 370 metres south west of its junction with the A65, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 55 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Millness Lane (U5358), Moss End Lane (U5356), A6070, A590 and the A65.

  3. North Heads Lane, Casterton – From 26th May 2026 for Approx. duration 4 days (Ref: TTROW/17853)

    From its junction with Gateheads Brow, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 460 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U5397, U5396, A65, A683 and the U5398.

  4. U5623, Town End – From 26th May 2026 for Approx. duration 4 days (Ref: TTROW/18401)

    From a point approx. 90 metres north east of its junction with the A590, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 75 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U5623 and the A590.

  5. Station Road, Staveley – From 4th June 2026 for Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/18410)

    From its junction with The Banks, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 80 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Station Road, Crook Road, C5059, B5284, A591, Kendal Road (C5108), Main Street and Abbey Bridge.

  6. A5084, Blawith – From 8th June 2026 for Approx. duration 1 night between the hours of 18:00 and 06:00 ONLY (Ref: TTROW/18423)

    From a point approx. 110 metres north of its junction with the U5080, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 65 metres.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5084, A5092, A590, A592, Rayrigg Road, A591, Ambleside Road, Lake Road, Borrans Road (A5075) and the A593.
