Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, CT1 1RD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury from 27th April 2026 with estimated completion by 1st May 2026, between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Windmill Close and Warwick Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, High Street, Gobbery Hill, Roman Road, Ash Bypass, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road, Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road, Mill Road, Sturry Road, Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, A2050 St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Broad Oak Road, Canterbury, CT2 7FP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow surfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broad Oak Road, Canterbury from 21:00 hours on 15th May 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 16th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Farleigh Road and the entrance to BMW, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broad Oak Road, B2248 Kingsmead Road, A28 Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Cooting Lane, Adisham, CT3 3JQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Cooting Lane, Adisham from 29th April 2026, with estimated completion by 1st May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Faulkners Lane, Harbledown. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow remedial works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Faulkners Lane, Harbledown from 11th May 2026 with estimated completion by 15th May 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the junction with Mill Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faulkners Lane, Chartham Hatch Road, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, A2050 London Road Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, A290 St Peters Roundabout, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Wincheap Green, A28 Wincheap, A28 Thanington Road, A28 Ashford Road, Howfield Lane, Bigbury Road, Pilgrims Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ford Hill, Hoath, CT3 4LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Hill, Hoath from 27th April 2026, with estimated completion by 28th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside 3 Ford Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ford Hill, Maypole Road, Hoath Road, Babs Oak Hill, A28 Staines Hill, Island Road, The Glen, Nethergong Hill, Sandpit Hill, Church Lane, Boyden Gate Hill, Highstead and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Garlinge Green Road, Garlinge Green. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Garlinge Green Road, Garlinge Green from 11th May 2026, with estimated completion by 13th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of New School Canterbury, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Garlinge Green Road, Kenfield Road, Chartham Downs Road, Garlinge Green Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Gosfield Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5BS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Gosfield Road, Herne Bay from 11th May 2026, with estimated completion by 18th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Gosfield Road, B2205 Canterbury Road, Kings Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay, CT6 8JT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow vegetation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Greenhill Bridge Road, Herne Bay from 29th April 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 11:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street, Avenue Road, Sea Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
King Street, Canterbury, CT1 2WR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of King Street, Canterbury from 12th May 2026, with estimated completion by 14th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 6, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for southwest bound traffic is via King Street, Palace Street and Orange Street.
The alternative route for northeast bound traffic is via King Street, Orange Street, Palace Street, Borough, St Radigunds Street and Knott’s Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mercery Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow works requiring scaffolding to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mercery Lane, Canterbury from 16th May 2026, with estimated completion by 13th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Pret A Manger, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 1BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury from 28th April 2026, with estimated completion by 29th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 41 William Hill, Bookmakers, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road and Northgate.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Portlight Place, Whitstable, CT5 4UB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow fire hydrant renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Portlight Place, Whitstable from 11th May 2026, with estimated completion by 13th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 16, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0QD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow water main connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak from 27th April 2026, with estimated completion by 14th July 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Bluebell Wood Caravan Park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalloak Road, Vauxhall Road, A28 Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sweechgate, Shalloak Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Martin’s Hill, Canterbury, CT1 1PU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Martin’s Hill, Canterbury from 21:00 hours on 27th April 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 28th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 35, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 St Martin’s Hill, Longport, Lower Chantry Lane, A2050 St Georges Place, A28 Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, A28 Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, Mill Road, Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road, Canterbury Road, A256 Ramsgate Road, Canterbury Road, A299 Canterbury Road West, Hengist Way, A256 Richborough Way, Ramsgate Road, Sandwich Bypass, A257 Ash Bypass, Pedding Hill, Roman Road, Gobery Hill, High Street, Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, The Hill, Canterbury Road, Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill and and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Tudor Road, Canterbury, CT1 3SS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Tudor Road, Canterbury from 19:00 hours on 12th May 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 13th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 44 Wincheap, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any southbound through traffic is via A28 Wincheap, Victoria Road, St Mildreds Place, Martyrs’ Field Road, York Road, Claremont Place and Tudor Road.
The alternative route for any northbound through traffic is via Tudor Road, Grove Terrace and York Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Union Road, Bridge. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Union Road, Bridge from 27th April 2026, with estimated completion by 29th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via High Street, Western Avenue, Saxon Road, Union Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Wickham Lane, Ickham, CT3 1RQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wickham Lane, Ickham from 11th May 2026, with estimated completion by 22nd May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Wickham Road and Drill Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wickham Road, Nargate Street, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, Wingham Lane, The Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Woodlawn Street, Whitstable, CT5 1AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2026
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Woodlawn Street, Whitstable from 20:00 hours on 27th April 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 28th April 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with B2205 Harbour Street and Bexley Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodlawn Street, St Peter’s Road, Albert Street, B2205 Harbour Street, Horsebridge Road and Sea Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The One-Way Order on Woodlawn Street will be suspended between Bexley Street and B2205 Harbour Street, to allow access.
