(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of
i. Percy Street, Nelson from outside 55 Percy Street to its junction with Rear 1 to 25 Bentley Street.
ii. Bentley Street, Nelson from its junction with Rear 2 to 83 Percy Street to outside 31 Bentley Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0730 hours on Monday 30th March 2026 until 1630 hours on Thursday 30th April 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Beaufort Street – Bradshaw Street – Princess Street – Bentley Street – Thomas Street – Chaple House Road – Beaufort Street and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway and footway improvements carried out by George Cox & Sons LTD.
