TEMPORARY FOOTPATH / FOOTWAY CLOSURE ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that on 23/4/26 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following footpath / footway:- SIMR 18, South Shields - 2-48 Trinity Wk to junction with Laygate, Rear of 1- 15 Trinty Wk and Rear of 50-64 Trinity Wk. SIMR 41, South Shields - 2-44 Regent Ct. SIMR 5 - Rear of 48- 54 Regent Ct and 56-62 Regent Ct. SIMR 32, South Shields - 76-92 Trinity Wk. SIMR40 - Rear of 27-29 Trinity Wk. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out gas replacement works. The Order will come into force on the 23/4/26. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 6 mths.
However it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 27/4/26 for 43 days. All pedestrians except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the footpath / footway described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to
time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be indicated via signage.
