WANSBECK DISTRICT PUBLIC FOOTPATH NUMBER 10
(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) CONTINUATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBYGIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”) has made an Order to which continues to prohibit the use of the Wansbeck District Public Footpath Number 10, in the County of Northumberland.

The Council made an order named the “Northumberland County Council (Wansbeck District Public Footpath Number 10) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025” on the 29th October 2025 (“the 2025 Order”) due to works being carried out, the Council are satisfied that the footpath should continue to be prohibited as works are continuing being carried out around the footpath and there remains a likelihood of danger to the public as the footpath runs through a construction site and is not safe for pedestrians to use.

The Secretary of State approved an extension of the 2025 Order on the 10thApril 2026 and has approved a continuation of the prohibition until the 3rd November 2027 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

The route is described as follows:

Wansbeck District Public Footpath Number 10

From the U6716 road (Summerhouse Lane) opposite number 118 Barnston in an easterly direction for a distance of 145 metres to join the U6532 (Spine Road Cycle Track) 225 metres north-east of Paddock Wood.

There is an alternative route available from the U6716 road (Summerhouse Lane) opposite number 118 Barnston in a northerly direction for a distance of 295 metres then continuing in a general south-easterly direction over the Spine Road Cycle Track for a distance of 290 metres to a point on the U6532 (Spine Road Cycle Track) 225 metres north-east of Paddock Wood.

The Order shall continue the prohibition from the 4th May 2026 until the 3rd November 2027.

The continuation of the 2025 Order has been requested by Persimmon Homes Ltd as works are continuing around the footpath and the area is a construction site so there is a likelihood of danger to the public which means it would be unsafe for pedestrians to use the footpath.

Enquiries should be made to Kelly O’Sullivan, Area Countryside Officer, by email to
