CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE
NO WAITING AT ANY TIME ON HIGH STREET AND TOWNSEND CLOSE, CRANFIELD
Reason for proposal: The purpose of this proposal is to improve road safety for all users and to reduce the likelihood of danger arising on the highway, whilst facilitating the safe and efficient passage of traffic, including pedestrians.
The proposed waiting restrictions on High Street are intended to prevent obstructive parking in the vicinity of bus stops, ensuring that buses are able to access and depart from the stops without obstruction. This will improve traffic flow along the street, reduce delays to public transport, and enhance visibility and safety for pedestrians and other road users.
Please note that this consultation is retrospective, as the waiting restrictions were installed in error prior to the completion of the statutory Traffic Regulation Order process. The Council is now undertaking the necessary consultation and making the Order to ensure the restrictions are lawfully in place.
Effect of the Order:
To introduce No Waiting at any time on the following length of road in Cranfield:-
1. Townsend Close, both sides, from the centre of the junction with High Street and extending in a northwesterly direction for approximately 10 metres.
2. High Street, north side, from the junction with Townsend Close and extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 20 metres.
3. High Street, north side, from the junction with Townsend Close and extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately 10 metres.
4. High Street, south side, from a point approximately 14 metres southwest of the centre of the junction with Townsend Close and extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 55 metres.
