(Public Footpath Acorn Drive to Avon Ring Road and Public Footpath PMR/8/80, Emersons Green)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 5 November 2025, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 18 November 2026 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. 

The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of footpath specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon path surfacing works and would have expired on 18 May 2026. 

SCHEDULE Public Footpath Acorn Drive to Avon Ring Road – from Acorn Drive to Newlands Bridge over the A4174 Avon Ring Road; Public Footpath PMR/8/80 – from Acorn Drive to Newlands Bridge over the A4174 Avon Ring Road. 

Alternative Route: Acorn Drive, Rowan Drive, Meadowsweet Road, Orchid Close and vice versa.

(Gloucester Road, Patchway and Gloucester Road North, Filton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles)
(Temporary Prohibition of Right Turn) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- a) close, temporarily, to vehicles the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and b) prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice from making a right turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon works to the carriageway and replacement of streetlighting lanterns and cabling in connection with A38 flyover works. The order will be operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 18 months duration. See Schedule 3 for alternative routes.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Station Road which extends from a point 575m north of Chase Lane northwards for 90m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon vegetation clearance works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 19 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. 

Alternative route: Station Road (parts unaffected), The Downs, Wotton Road, Charfield Road, Old Rectory Road, Wickwar Road and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Tabernacle Road which extends from High Street north eastwards for 60m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. The order became operative from 29 April 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: High Street, Chapel Road, Tabernacle Road (parts unaffected) and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pedestrian crossing resurfacing works. The order became operative from 28 April 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 night duration, between 8pm and 6am, in respect of each location.

(A38 Gloucester Road North, Filton)
(Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has suspended, temporarily, the bus lane in that length of A38 Gloucester Road North which extends from a point 80m south Elm Park southwards for 275m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with mobility crossing installation works. The order became operative from 27 April 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The measures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 weeks duration.

(A432 Badminton Road, Coalpit Heath and Yate)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has:- a) closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and b) suspended, temporarily, when signs are covered, the South Gloucestershire Council (Weight Restriction Zone – Frampton Cotterell Area) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 2001 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon Active Travel CRSTS works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 27 April 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The measures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration, between 8pm and 6am. 

SCHEDULE 1 A432 Badminton Road – that length which extends from Nibley Lane to Frog Lane.

Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of A432 Badminton Road – Lay-by north of the viaduct, Coalpit Heath. 

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with fibre overhead cabling works. 

The order will be operative from 20 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with fibre works. The order will be operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 days duration. No alternative route available: Dead end road.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Rushmead Lane which extends from a point 300m north east of West Littleton Road north eastwards for 250m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new telecom poles installation works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of A38 Gloucester Road which extends from B4061 to Grovesend Road. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with Active Travel CRSTS works. 

The order will be operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Church Road which extends from Greenways Road roundabout southwards for 50m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon resurfacing works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 8 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration. 

Alternative route: Church Road (part unaffected), A432, B4059 and Greenways Road (part unaffected) and vice versa.

(Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has –

1. prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this notice from making a right turn onto the roads specified in column 2 of the said Schedule between the hours and on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedule.

2. closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles, pedestrians and equestrians Roaches Lane (LBA/3/10), Badminton from Slaits Road in a south westerly direction for 130m from 0600 hours on 6th May 2026 to 1800 hours on 10th May 2026.

3. closed, temporarily, to pedestrians Footpath LHA/109, Hawkesbury between its junctions with Park Road and Cherry Orchard Lane between 0600 hours and 1800 hours on 9th May 2026.

4. instituted, temporarily, one way traffic working in the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice in the direction indicated in relation to that length of road in column 2 of the said Schedule, between the hours and on the dates specified in column 3 of the said Schedule.

5. prohibited, temporarily, any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 3 to this notice between Midnight on 4th May 2026 and 2359 hours on 10th May 2026.

6. prohibited, temporarily, any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 4 to this notice between Midnight on 4th May 2026 and 2359 hours on 10th May 2026.

7. prohibited, temporarily, vehicles waiting at any time in the lengths and sides of road specified in Schedule 5 to this notice between 0600 hours and 1900 hours on any day between 6th May 2026 and 10th May 2026. Loading/Unloading of goods from vehicles will be permitted.

This order is required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon traffic congestion and other adverse traffic conditions created by the holding of the Badminton Horse Trials and will become operative from the 4th May 2026 between the hours and on the dates specified in this notice. In the event that an appeal is made against the decision of the Council to refuse to grant planning permission for the proposed development, and that appeal then proceeds by way of the expedited procedure under the written representations procedure, any representations made to the council about this application will be passed to the Secretary of State and there will be no opportunity to make further representations.
