(WHALLEY CLITHEROE BYPASS, BILLINGTON, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Whalley Clitheroe Bypass, Billington from its merging with the Roundabout at Langho travelling in a north easterly direction to its merging with the roundabout with Whalley Easterly Bypass.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative nightly from 21:00 hours until 06:00 hours on 4th May 2026 until 15th May 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016
4. Emergency vehicles will be required to follow the diversion route.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Whalley Road – King Street - B6246 Accrington Road – A671 Accrington Road
6. An alternative route for HGVs affected by the closure is via: -
A59 – A677 Preston New Road – A6119 Yew Tree Drive – Whitebirk Drive – A678 Blackburn Road – A680 Whalley Road – A671 Accrington Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to carry out essential bridge works.
