20 Mph & 30mph & 40 Mph Speed Limits, Various Roads, Egton & Egton Bridge, Order 2026 Notice is hereby given that on 17/04/26 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 84(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed in excess of 20 mph on any length of road specified in Schedule 1 below; in excess of 30 mph on any length of road specified in Schedule 2 & in excess of 40 mph on any length of road specified in Schedule 3. Schedule 1 - 20 Mph Speed Limit C82 (High Street to Egton Cliff) from a point 130 metres north of Egton Cliff in a northerly direction for 269 metres. C82 (Broom House Lane to Egton Cliff) from its junction with Broom House Lane in a north-easterly direction for 290 metres. Schedule 2 - 30 Mph Speed Limit Delves Lane, from its junction with the C82 in a westerly direction for 164 metres. C82 (Broom House Lane to Key Green), from its junction with Broom House Lane in a south-westerly direction for 411 metres. Broom House Lane, from its junction with the C82 in a westerly direction for 489 metres. C84, from its junction with the C82 in a northerly direction for 138 metres. Browns Wood Cottages, for its entirety. Egton Lane, from its junction with the C82 in a westerly direction for 65 metres. C82 (Egton Lane to Guisborough Road), from its junction with Egton Lane in a north-easterly direction for 348 metres. High Street, for its entirety. Cross Farm, for its entirety. C56, from its junction with High Street in an easterly direction for 232 metres. C82 (High Street to Egton Cliff), from its junction with C56 in a southerly direction for 342 metres. Schedule 3 - 40 Mph Speed Limit C82 (High Street to Egton Cliff), from Egton Cliff in a northerly direction for 130 metres. Egton Cliff, for its entirety. A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 27/04/26, may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Whitby Library, Windsor Terrace, Whitby, YO21 1EY during normal office hours from 23/04/26 until 29/05/26 & also viewed online at

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any Instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 17/04/26 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
