Cumberland - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Carriageway Works
What is happening?

(VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.2) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 4 May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the Works will be carried out within a 3 month period from 4 May 2026 and the roads will only be closed when the Works are being carried out and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The Works, which will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

From its junction with Station Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 640m.

From its junction with the B5307 Newtown Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 120m.

From its junction with the U1121, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 790m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5307, A689, C2042, U2001, C2042 and the C2053.
5. U1465 Cumwhinton Drive, Carlisle (Ref:TTROC/17987)
From its junction with Oak Drive, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 170m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U1465, Cumwhinton Drive, Cumwhinton Road, and Garlands Road.
6. Leabourne Road, Carlisle (Ref:TTROC/17988)
From its junction with Sewell Road, extending to its junction with Buchanan Road.
Alternative Route: via Buchanan Road, Ridley Road and Sewell Road.
7. Etterby Road, Carlisle (Ref:TTROC/17989)
From its junction with Kingmoor Road extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 160m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Etterby Road, Stainton Road, A689, and Kingmoor Road.

From its junction with the C2049 extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.2km.
