TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways

Limited intends to make an Order on the A27 Trunk Road in the County of East Sussex, under

Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to:-

1.   authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A27 between Ashcombe and Southerham); and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway; and the link road by-passing Southerham Roundabout connecting the westbound carriageways either side of it;

2.   authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described above. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would last for approximately 1 month starting on or after Monday 11th May 2026. Overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).

The Order would come into force on the 9th May 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures would be strategically diverted using the A27, A270, A259 and A26 in either direction starting and finishing at Beddingham Roundabout (A26).

The temporary closures would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
