Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to:-
1. authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A27 between Ashcombe and Southerham); and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway; and the link road by-passing Southerham Roundabout connecting the westbound carriageways either side of it;
2. authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-bys adjacent to the carriageways described above. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 1 month starting on or after Monday 11th May 2026. Overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on the 9th May 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
