Westmorland and Furness - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

(VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.42) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule. Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 8th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for those dates as stated in the schedule only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. Jack Hill, Allithwaite – From 8th May 2026 for Approx. duration 5 days (Ref: TTROW/18281)

From its junction with the B5277, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 115 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Jack Hill (U5169) and the B5277.

2. A684 Sedbergh – From 10th May 2026 for Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/18183)

From its junction with the U5515, extending in a predominantly westerly direction for a distance of approx. 260 metres.

Alternative Route for Non-Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, A683 and the B6256.

Alternative Route for Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, A683, A65 and the M6.

3. C5060, Bowland Bridge – From 12th May 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/18132)

From its junction with the U5010, extending in a south easterly direction to its junction with the C5048.

Alternative Route: via the C5048, A5074 and the U5010.

4. C5061, Crosthwaite – From 12th May 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/18285)

From its junction with Rickettrae (U5335), extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 870 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections C5061, U5327, B5284, A5074 and the C5048.

5. Kilmidyke Road, Carter Road and Kilmidyke Drive, Grange-Over-Sands – From 12th May 2026 for Approx. duration 3 days (Ref: TTROW/18351)

Phase 1: Kilmidyke Road, from its junction with Carter Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 70 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Kilmidyke Road, Kilmidyke Drive and Carter Road.

Phase 2: Carter Road, from a point approx. metres south west of its junction with Cart Lane, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 150 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Carter Road, Cart Lane and Allithwaite Road.

Phase 3: (i) Kilmidyke Drive, from its junction with Kilmidyke Road extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 110 metres.

(ii) Kilmidyke Drive, from its junction with Kilmidyke Road, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 145 metres.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

6. C5003, Troutbeck – From 13th May 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/18293)

From its junction with Greengate, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 910 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5003, A592, A591 and the U5561.

7. Deepdale Lane, Dent – From 14th May 2026 for Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/18303)

From a point approx. 1.2 km south east of its junction with the U5475, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 2.9 km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Deepdale Lane (U5506), A65, A683, Station Road (A684), Loftus Hill, C5101 and the U5475.

8. Ford Road, Cartmel – From 20th May 2026 for Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/18427)

Adjacent to a property known as Wayside, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 60 metres.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
