Westmorland and Furness - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LOCALITY AREA)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) (NO.39) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

The Order will come into operation on 4th May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 month in total and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

1. U5626 Oxenholme Lane, Natland – 4th May 2026 (Ref: TTROW/17929)
From its junction with its junction with the A65, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 735m.
Alternative Route: via the U5627 Helm Lane and the A65.
2. U5627 Helm Lane, Natland – 4th May 2026 (Ref: TTROW/17930)
From its junction with the A65, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 830m.
Alternative Route: via the A65 and the U5626 Oxenholme Lane.
3. A683 Middleton – 5th May 2026 (Ref: TTROW/18097)
From its junction with the A684, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 3.5km.
Alternative Route: via
Non Motorway Traffic – U856, A685 and A65.
Motorway Traffic – A684, M6, A65 and A683.
4. A65 Crooklands – 5th May 2026 (Ref: TTROW/18103)
From its junction with the B6385, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.3km.
Alternative Route: via the A590, A591, A6 and the unrestricted section of the A65.
5. A593, Clappersgate – 5th May 2026 (Ref: TTROW/18104)
From its junction with the B5286, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 3.3km.
Alternative Route: via the A5075, A591, A592, A590, A5092 and the unrestricted section of the A593.
