Notice of Making of an Order
Highways Act 1980 & Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Footpath No. 392 (Horley) Public Path Diversion Order 2026
Footpath No. 577 (Horley) Public Path Creation Order 2026
The above Diversion Order, made on 9th April 2026 under section 119A of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A (2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 will if confirmed, divert Footpath No. 392 (Horley) from Grid Ref 528602 144841 in a northerly direction for 325 metres Grid Ref 528597 145163.
The path turns in an easterly direction passing under the railway viaduct in an easterly direction for 49 metres to Grid Ref 528647 145164 and then continuing for 225 metres to Grid Ref 528846 145164, as shown on Drawing No. 3/1/45/H42.
Total distance 599 metres. The footpath to have a width of 2.5 metres, except on the footbridges at point E and Point F, where both will be 2 metres wide.
The above Creation Order made on 9th April 2026, under section 26 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 will, if confirmed, create Footpath No. 577 (Horley) in a north-westerly direction from its junction with FP 392 (Horley) Grid Ref 528597 145163 to Grid Ref 528589 145170) at Cross Oak Lane as shown on Drawing No. 3/1/45/H42. Distance to be 16 metres, the footpath to have a width of 2.5 metres except on the steps where it will be 1.1 metres wide.
A copy of the Order and Map may be seen free of charge at the Countryside Access Office, Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ (by appointment Tel. 0300 200 1003 and at Tandridge District Council, 8 Station Road East, Oxted, Surrey RH8 0BT and at Horley Library, Victoria Road, Horley, Surrey, RH6 7AG, during opening hours. The notice can also be viewed on www.surreycc.gov.uk under Footpaths, Byways and Bridleways.
A copy of the Order may be purchased from the County Council for £4. Any representations or objections to the Order must be sent in writing to Countryside Access quoting reference SM/AKW/3/1/22 at Surrey County Council, Whitebeam Lodge, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ by 18th May 2026.
Please state the grounds on which they are made. If no representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Surrey County Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. Any representations not withdrawn will be sent with the Order to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation.
