What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Kings Theatre) (Temporary Taxi Rank) (Temporary Prohibition of Stopping, Loading and Waiting - Except Taxis) (No.80) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 21st April 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF STOPPING, LOADING AND WAITING (EXCEPT TAXIS)
ALBERT ROAD
From outside No.52 on the southside for 20 metres to outside No.48.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate a temporary taxi rank due to the existing rank being revoked while repairs are carried out to the Kings Theatre.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 21st April 2026 for 18 months or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (CONSOLIDATION) (ON-STREET PARKING PLACES AND RESTRICTIONS ON WAITING AND LOADING) (NO.1) ORDER 2022 shall be temporarily suspended in so far as it relates to the waiting restrictions for the length of road detailed in this Order.
